Privacy summary
A plain-language description of what the BolBhai app collects and why. It describes how the app works today.
Draft for the app’s owner to review. This summary was written from how the app is built. Before you publish it publicly, have it checked against your own legal requirements and add a contact address for privacy questions.
What BolBhai stores
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Email & sign-in | To create and secure your account (email + password, or Google). Handled by Firebase Authentication. |
| Name, username, photo, “about”, interest tags | Your profile, shown to people in your chats and to anyone who finds you. |
| Messages & files | Text, photos, videos, documents, audio and voice notes you send, kept so they sync and reach the people in the chat. |
| Status updates | Text or photos you post; visible to your accepted contacts for 24 hours, then removed automatically. |
| Online / last seen / typing | To show activity to people you chat with. You can hide last seen; blocked people never see it. |
| Approximate area (only if you turn on “People near me”) | A ~5 km area used to show you people nearby. Exact coordinates are not stored; the area expires after a few hours and is deleted when you switch the feature off. |
| Notification token | So your phone can receive message alerts. |
| Your settings | Theme, notification and privacy choices are kept on your phone. Your mute list and “show previews” choice are also saved to your account so notifications respect them. |
What BolBhai does not do
- It does not ask for your phone number or read your contacts.
- It does not publish a directory of users; nobody can browse or search all users.
- It does not use fine (GPS-precise) location.
- It does not use the camera or microphone in the background. The microphone is used only while you record a voice message.
Who can see what
- Only people in a chat can read its messages. A new contact’s first message is a request that carries one short note until you accept.
- Your PIN for the app lock is stored in your phone’s secure storage and never leaves the device.
- Anyone you block can’t message you and can’t see your online status, last seen or typing.
Important limits
- Messages are stored in Google Firebase and protected by access rules, but they are not end-to-end encrypted.
- “Delete chat”, archive and mute are remembered on your phone; deleting a chat hides it for you but the other person keeps their copy.
